The deepest diving marine mammal

The deepest diving marine mammal is the Cuvier’s beaked whale (Ziphius cavirostris). One exceptional whale dove to 2,992 meters (9,816 feet), while a second one stayed down for 138 minutes.

The second deepest diving mammal is the sperm whale (Physeter macrocephalus). This huge whale dives as deep as 2,250 m (7,380 ft).
