The heaviest contemporary eagle is the Steller’s sea eagle (Haliaeetus pelagicus). It has 5 – 9 kilograms (11 – 20 lb) in weight and around 95 cm (3.12 ft) in length.

The Steller’s sea eagle lives in coasts of Eastern Asia. This bird is named after the German naturalist Georg Wilhelm Steller.
