The fastest bird in the world

Peregrine falcon (Falco peregrinus) is the fastest bird in the world. During the diving flight, peregrine falcon reaches a speed of 389 km/h (242 mph).

Average diving speed of the peregrine falcon is 180 km/h (112 mph). Average horizontal speed is only 65–90 km/h (40-56 mph), so peregrine falcons are not the fastest birds using wings to horizontal flight.
