The biggest known ornithopod was Shantungosaurus (Shantungosaurus giganteus). It had 15 – 16.5 m (49.2 – 54.5 ft) in length and about 16 tons (35,274 lb) in weight.

Shantungosaurus means „Shandong lizard”, ornithopoda means „bird feet”. Shantungosaurus is one of the longest and largest known hadrosaurids.
