The largest living species of bird is the ostrich (Struthio camelus). This flightless bird has 63 – 145 kilograms (139–320 lb) in weight and 2.1 – 2.8 m (6 ft 11in – 9 ft 2 in) in height.

The ostrich is very fast animal. It can run at up to about 70 km/h (43 mph), so this is the fastest land speed of any bird.
