African elephant tusks weigh between 30 and 100 kg (66 – 220 lb). Asian elephant tusks do not exceed 47 kg (103 lb) in weight.

Elephant has 2 upper incisors (tusks). Elephants are “right-tusked” or “left- tusked” (one tusk shows definite wear with age). Elephant tusks are incisors. Tusks of pigs, hippopotamus and walruses are canines. Tusks can grow 17 cm (6.69 inches) each year.
