The largest bear on the Earth is the polar bear (Ursus maritimus). It has 2,4 – 3 m (7,8 – 9,8 ft) in length, over 1,3 m (4,26 ft) in shoulder height and 300 – 700 kg (661 – 1543 lb) in weight.

T he heaviest known polar bear was over 1000 kg (2205 lb) in weight. The polar bear is larger than grizzly bear (Ursus arctos horribilis) but it has approximately the same size as Kodiak bear (Ursus arctos middendorffi), also known as Alaskan grizzly bear or Kodiak brown bear.
