The largest falcon in the world

The largest species of falcon is the gyrfalcon or gerfalcon (Falco rusticolus). It has 48 – 65 cm (1,6 – 2,1 ft) length of body, 110 – 160 cm (4 – 5 ft) wingspan and 0,8 – 2,1 kg (2 – 5 lb) in weight.

The gerfalcon lives on Arctic coasts and on the islands of Europe, Asia and North America. This predatory bird is a very large falcon, being about the same size as the largest buzzard hawks.
