The biggest bat in the world

The biggest species of bat is the large flying fox (Pteropus vampyrus). It has about 40 cm (1,31 ft) in length of body, 0.65 – 1.1 kg (1.43 – 2.42 lb) in weight and about 170 cm (5.57 ft) of wingspan.

This animal is the largest flying mammal on Earth but it’s not dangerous for humans. The large flying fox feeds on flower, nectar and fruit. Other names of this bat are: the greater flying fox, Malaysian flying fox, kalang or kalong. This bat lives in south-east Asia.
