Kronosaurus – the largest plesiosaur

The largest discovered plesiosaur is extinct genus of short-necked pliosaur, Kronosaurus. It had 9 – 10 m (30 – 33 ft) in length and 7 – 10 tons (15,432 – 22,046 lb) in weight.

Kronosaurus meaning “lizard of Kronos”, so is named after the leader of the Greek Titans, Cronus. This huge reptile lived in the Early Cretaceous Period.
